Is this the end of the end?
This is our third day of quarantine here in California, I think. The days kind of run together now. This is a very hard time for everyone and my heart goes out to all the people who are out of work now because of this.
It’s weird because back when 9/11 happened, I was one person removed from a lot of the victims in New York. A girl I knew had a brother that died. A buddy of mine lost his uncle. I even knew some people who were related to people who went down in the plane in PA.
I bring this up because I don’t know anyone who actually has the coronavirus. I don’t know or haven’t heard of anyone being related to anyone who has it. I know of people who have been sick over the last few weeks and have been told to go into isolation, but I don’t know anyone who has been actually diagnosed with the virus.
What I do know, is that I know A LOT of people who are out of work now. I know some other people who have taken jobs that put them at great risk of potentially catching coronavirus or other sicknesses. It seems like more people are hurting financially than are sick.
I get it: to stop the spread of this, we need to make sure that the virus can’t move from person to person. I understand. It just seems to me like more people are hurting, maybe even starving because of the panic and the lockdowns.
I know not all states have instituted lockdown quarantines yet, I hope they don’t, but if they do, hang in there.
Above all else, I feel like a complete dick asking people to donate in times like these. As of right now, we are at 18% of our goal. I was really hoping to hit 30% last week, but honestly, the world is a much different place than it was when I began to set this campaign up.
A lot of people have been posting and sharing the campaign and I am so grateful for that. I know that some of you have wanted to donate but just can’t afford the scratch. So, here is what I’m doing, at least for a little while:

The $1 tier, or “the Coronavirus Special” will be for a limited time. I don’t know how limited, let’s see how long the quarantine lasts.
